- The Annual Agnes Pelton House Museum Day is an open-house event to celebrate the life and legacy of American Modernist painter, Agnes Lawrence Pelton. This one-day-a-year event is an opportunity for the general public to visit and learn about her historic home, her paintings, and the paintings of her artist friends, who formed an art colony in her quaint, Cathedral City Cove neighborhood in the 1930’s through the early 60’s. Attendees are invited to walk through Pelton’s original home and painting studio that also functioned as one of the first art galleries in Coachella Valley and is restored today as a modest private gallery of original paintings by those same now historic artists. The sculpture and meditation gardens will be on view as well as the recently created Gaudi-esque mosaics by the owner and host of the property, Peter Palladino,. Throughout the grounds there will be live-music and entertainment performed by a classical music ensemble, a Mexican folklorico dance group, and dance performances by the Los Angeles-based DiosGracias Voice & Dance Group. The adjacent Chuperosa Lane Murals Path showcases an outdoor gallery of murals by local artists commissioned by the Agnes Pelton Society that celebrates the living history of the Cove neighborhood.
- Tickets are $15 at the door and in-advance at the website, www.agnespeltonsociety.com.
