In recognition of National Poetry Month, Mizell Center presents an exciting evening featuring a talented and diverse group of local poets reading from their works. National Poetry Month, the largest literary celebration in the world, was launched by the Academy of American Poets in 1996. As a special occasion to celebrate poets’ integral role in our culture and to remind us that poetry matters, Mizell Center invites you to honor one of the oldest forms of literary expression.
Mizell Center’s 3rd Wednesday Speaker Series presents noted speakers in the arts, academia, music, politics and culture. Launched in September 2021, the series showcases cultural programming that engages diverse audiences. Programs are often produced in collaboration with other community based non-profit organizations.
