The Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians has announced that the East Valley COVID-19 Testing Site moved to a permanent location near the Spotlight 29 Casino. This drive-through testing site is now located at 6605 Dillon Road in Coachella and is the easiest, safest and fastest way for East Valley residents to get tested. The tests are conducted by the Borrego Community Health Foundation and are provided by the Desert Healthcare District.

Starting October 1, The East Valley Covid-19 Testing Site has been provide testing for the virus Fridays and Saturdays from 7 a.m. – 11 a.m. each day of operation. Health insurance programs will cover the costs of the tests, and they will be provided free for those who do not have health coverage. Those who do not currently have health insurance will receive information and assistance signing up for programs such as Medi-Cal and CalFresh. Testing will be by appointment only and reservations are required. To make a reservation, residents must call 1-833-624-1097. Specific directions to the site will be provided when testing appointments are made.

“We are fully committed to providing easy testing for residents in Coachella, Thermal, and Mecca,” said Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians Tribal Chairman Darrell Mike. “Proper testing of our community members is the most effective way of containing this virus and we are honored to continuing our partnership on this project with Borrego Community Health Foundation, the City of Coachella, the Desert Healthcare District, and the County of Riverside.”

The Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians is providing the testing site location free of charge, providing the tents, personnel for public safety and traffic control, portable restrooms, generators, water, signage, and spearheading the public communications about the project. Tribal Chairman Darrell Mike was key in coordinating the Tribe’s involvement.
