Bobby Mao’s Chinese Kitchen and Bar, the brainchild of a Coachella Valley couple, Bob Gramatt and wife Tina. They set out to pair an upscale atmosphere with affordable prices in a way that could be easily replicated as the concept catches on.
Tina Gramatt spearheaded the menu. She’s from a family of restaurateurs who started with a block-long establishment in Taiwan before moving to the East Coast.
“There are a lot of simple dishes. All but a handful of dishes on the dinner menu are less than $20, including mainstays like moo shu pork and kung pao chicken, along with tweaked ones like General Mao’s chicken and pineapple fried rice.
